The Dawn of the Night

The dusk deepens into the night,

Veiling  everything from sight.

Inky blackness spreads through the sky,

Filling  every crevice, low and high.

A lone soldier travels on,

Through  the night, waiting for dawn.

Slowly the night ebbs away,

And gives way to day,

Bringing with it a ray of hope,

Of  joy and happiness untold.

So, for now, all his troubles are gone,

Till night, once again, comes home.
